VE Day Celebrations in Tutbury

VE DAY was commemorated in Tutbury, starting with the Street Party, last Sunday (the weather could have been kinder) but a good time was had by all. Ending on VE Day with the Flag Raising, with music from the Waterloo Pipes and Drums.

Followed by an excellent concert by Tutbury Band. It was great to have the band back in church. Roger our organist was on hand to accompany the singing. The Mayor and Mayoress were present and the church was packed! The evening culminated with the Beacon Lighting at the Castle (good to see the gates open, if only briefly). A huge Thank you to all who had a part in the organisation of this splendid evening and all the celebrations.

Just a note of explanation, unfortunately we are unable to fly the flag from the church tower at present, due to the flagpole being unstable.
